VisitWoods is keen to show that woods have many benefits for everyone.
Many disabled people have told us that simply knowing what to expect at the wood such as whether or not there are toilet facilities or a cafe to relax in and what the entrance points and surfaces are like helps them make their own decision as to whether they want to visit a wood.
DisabledGo provide online access guides that give people the information to decide for themselves if a venue meets their particular requirements. Their team of surveyors are producing these guides on a small number of woods across the UK. These guides will make it easier for disabled people to decide if a wood is suitable for their particular requirements.
DisabledGo has also trained members of the project team to give them the skills to provide access information and will be extending this training to VisitWoods volunteer WebGuides in the near future. This means the number of woods with access information will grow with VisitWoods, giving more people the information they need.
